Well, I played (again) at the place I've been going, and did alright again. I ended up re-buying once for $40, so the total invested was $80. Anyways, it was one of the more crazy nights, with raises being anywhere from $12 to $25 preflop with no action before hand. In a $1/$2 game, thats pretty steep, generally, since the average stack (especially at this table) is only about $150-$200. Spending 1/8 of your stack preflop is a bit ridiculous, and the fact that people were doing it out of position with J-9o and other slightly more crazy holdings make it worse. Still, if one is patient, they can generally make a decent amount.
I had one hand with AA in the SB (small blind) where I raised to $12, and was called by like 5 people. The flop was T-5-3 with two clubs, and I bet $30 at the pot, and two people called! The turn was another T, and I checked, sure that someone had hit their third ten. Someone bet $10, was called by the other guy, and I called, praying for another A. The river was an 8c, and at this point I was pretty sure I was beat. I checked, the other two surprisingly checked, and the best hand besides mine was... AQo? WTF? What were they doing? Seriously... a crazy night.
Other than that, the night wasn't horrible, except for the cigar/cigarette smoke. People chain smoke in a little little room, and... they were pissed that I left after only playing like 4 hours. I told them I couldn't really breathe, and they ignored me, saying 'what else do you have to do?' I told them... I don't know... breathe? live? Not suffocate?
I won one hand with a runner runner flush (it was checked on the flop and bet small on the turn when I had a small pair already) and then called a reasonably big sized bet on the river, and someone was like 'I don't think he knew he had the flush'. blah. I've played conservatively the whole time I've been over there, would I really have called a pot-sized bet on the river with a pair of 6's and a 7 kicker? Seriously. Would ANYONE have? with 3 overcards on the board? blah. Alright, here are the stats for the night.
$1/$2 NL Hold'em
Hours logged for the session: 4
Started the night with: $80
Ended the night with: $326
Plus or minus for the night: +$246
Overall cash bankroll: $1248
Total plus or minus: +$1088
Total hours played: 43
Total per hour average: +$25.3/hour
Well, I'm halfway to my goal of making $500 more before I leave Iraq. Hopefully next session (which might be my last) I'll make the other $254 I need. I'll be happy with any positive gain though. Alright, I need to go shake a tower. I feel dirty and smell... worse. Somehow.
