Perhaps the last day

Well, tonight might have been my last night at the awesome $1/$2 smokefest that I've been going to. Their next game is night after next and it's very possible we'll be on 'lockdown' because of our imminent departure for Kuwait! As awesome as that is, my goal was not QUITE met yet, though I'm happy with my results overall.

Tonight got crazy, since Shane (the guy holding the game) decided to get crazy and raise every pot to $7, regardless of his cards, and if someone raised to $7, he re-popped them for $7 more. It went this way for a full hour or so, with every single pot without exception being a minimum of $7 to get into. I got TT once the whole hour for acceptable cards, and was able to re-pop the guy $20 with two callers, making the pot about $70 or so. J-6-6 flopped, I bet $30, and they both folded. Other than that, it was fold city, with me getting almost NO good holdings, and even worse re-raise hands. It could have made me rich, and indeed, a few people spent a good $300 in the hour this fever was happening.

There was a big 'coincidence' that 7's kept popping up on the flop, so EVERYONE was playing their 7's to the river, no matter what other hole cards, because EVERYONE who knows anything knows that when a certain card is hot, it's going to make you a lot of money, regardless of the play around you. Especially 7's. Aces are generally treated the same way. A lot of times people call enormous bets with the slim hope of spiking an Ace on the turn or river. I like to call it an 'Ace draw' since their hand really has no real hope of winning except for their ace. It doesn't even matter what the card accompanying it is. I see people calling ridiculous bets with A-7 offsuit simply because it has an Ace in it. What are you hoping to catch with it? An Ace? of course! It's a nice thing called (well, I call it) Ace disease, and it makes me a lot of money. hehe. I'm not complaining at all. Don't get me wrong, I like hands with Aces in them. I just won't call 2/3 of my stack out of position with A-6 offsuit when the action went bet-raise-reraise.

Well, other than that, tonight was pretty straightforward. I folded Ah-Qh on an A-9-9-K-5 board to a guy with A9o. It was a pretty good feeling to be able to fold it, actually. Everyone was like 'you're folding that?! you're crazy if you fold it' and 'scared money can't make money' but I was even able to narrow his hand down to A9, so... not saying I'm an amazing player... it just felt good. As good as losing $30 in action leading up to my fold on the river can ever feel haha.

So, here are my stats for the night:

$1/$2 NL Hold'em
Hours logged for the session: 4
Started the night with: $80
Ended the night with: $200
Plus or minus for the night: +$120
Overall cash bankroll: $1468
Total plus or minus: +$1208
Total hours played: 47
Total per hour average: +$25.7/hour

Well, if this IS my last poker game here, I'll have to get back on this thing when I'm finally back in the states, or possibly a bit sooner if we play a company game if we're bored in Kuwait. I plan on taking a bit out to use on sending boxes home tomorrow, and I'll end up having a more even amount. When I get back to the states, I plan on opening a 'poker' savings account, where I can stash my winnings, and keep my poker money separate from my other money. Not that I have a big bankroll yet, but it's nice to be able to say that what I have right now has all stemmed from $160. It's ALMOST ten times as big as it was when it started :)

Alright, I gotta get outta here, behave yourselves, hope the next time I type on here it's from the states...
