Tonight I went to that same $1/$2 game, and I finally hit a few good hands! Twice in an un-raised pot as a BB I had 5-3o and flopped a straight, which didn't really pay me off TOO well, but it was still something that hadn't really happened at all the previous nights.
Anyways, I had started with an original $40, though I had $160 in my pocket in case I needed it. I had made some great laydowns and some great calls, and was up pretty well when the following hand came along:
I had 8-Td on the button in an unraised pot with about 6 callers. I limped and the two blinds called (8 people seeing the flop here is pretty regular). The flop came 8-6-2 with two diamonds. It was checked around to a guy that went all-in for $18, and I called, hoping to get a little more action with my reasonably strong hand. However, everyone folded until a guy that had previously checked and was next to the guy who had raised, thought for a while and then told me 'I'm gonna make you pay for the draw you're on' and went all-in for another $59. This was only a mild dilema for me, as I had seen his style of play and was fairly certain the BEST hand he could possibly have was 99 or JJ, as he would have bet with a set to get rid of the flush draws on the board (he plays weak hands weak and strong hand strong, in general). Anyways, I was getting about 2:1 on my money, and with 14 outs with two cards to come, I figured it put me in decent shape to win the pot and a lot of money. I'm still not sure if it was the right call percentage-wise, I'll have to find out soon, though due to the 'rule of 4' I was around a 56% favorite to win. Anyways, the conclusion was that I ended up NOT catching any of my diamonds or an 8 or 10, and lost a lot of money to his JJ. I soon afterward cashed out, having already given them a '30-minute warning'. Here are the stats for tonight:
$1/$2 NL Hold'em
Hours logged for the session: 4
Started the night with: $40
Ended the night with: $287
Plus or minus for the night: +$247
Overall cash bankroll: $537
Total plus or minus: +$377
Total hours played: 13
Total per hour average: +$29/hour
Well, if I could be entirely consistant making that sort of money, I really COULD live off of poker right now, though we'll see if I can continue to do this well. They want me to go play tomorrow so they can get their money back, I'll certainly oblige them, for about 4 hours anyways. Up til now, this game has been pretty good for me. Still, it'll be nice to get into the states and play there. Some good old fashioned $3/$6 limit sounds like fun, as does a few home-game $5 tournaments, haha. And then I'll also be able to play online. Good times. Peace out.

The next night
Well, I went to play at the place I talked about last time. It was a VERY frusterating night, with me bringing $160 and slowly dwindling down to $30 before I actually did anything worthy of talking about. Simply put, I caught nothing for 3 hours. I sat and folded, and folded, and folded, and called with a crap hand, and folded, and folded. It went on FOREVER. I got nothing. A few of my draws never paid out, and though I got my money in with excellent odds (lots of times I could actually call the nut-flush draw with PURE odds, not only implied odds, which is pretty awesome) but none of the draws hit and bam, down to $30.
Then a very loose player raised the pot to $7 with 5 callers and I sat there with A8h (the letter next to the number denotes the suit, h=hearts, c=clubs, etc.) . I was on the button, which means I was last to act in subsequent betting rounds, and I called, getting about 5:1 pot odds (which is generally pretty good!) The flop came Q-8-4 rainbow and the entire table checked to me. It was too easy, and I pushed my remaining $23 into the pot. The original raiser called, and nobody else did, and the guy turns over.... A7! He didn't even have a pair, and I more than doubled up!
A full circuit later I had 6-7h and called on the button after 5 people called the flop. I had about $150 in front of me or so. The flop came 7-2-6 with two diamonds, which gave me top two, but also gave lots of other people flush draws/straight draws. I bet $10 into the pot after it was checked to me, and was check-raised to $25. Leery of a set, I reluctantly called, and the next card was a Qs, not one of my danger cards, obviously. The check-raiser checked again, which led me to believe he was either on a draw or possibly a strong 7, maybe even a low overpair. I bet $30 which he called after MUCH hesitation. The river brought a 6, and gave me a boat. The only hand that could possibly beat me was QQ (highly unlikely the way he bet it) and 77, so I bet $40, basically the rest of my stack, to which he quickly folded, flipping over a counterfeited 7-2 for (3 pair). Sad he didn't pay me off, but the fact that he played that UTG (under the gun, or basically the first person to bet) was pretty surprising, and I'm glad his hand didn't hold up (obviously haha).
Anyways, I ended the night up and down a little and finished with $233. Not a bad end to a night that was so annoying. Here are the stats:
$1/$2 NL Hold'em
Hours logged for the session: 5
Started the night with: $160
Ended the night with: $233
Plus or minus for the night: +$73
Overall cash bankroll: $290
Total plus or minus: +$130
Total hours played: 9 (5 this session, 4 the time before)
Total per hour average: +$14.44/hour
haha, not as great as some jobs out there, but... I can't complain so far. Pretty neat place. I plan on going as often as I can, playing 4-5 hours sessions. Anyways, this is pretty long, and I need to go sleep, my mission today was looooong! Take 'er easy!

A cash game I found
Well, if you don't already know, my computer has bitten the dust for the rest of the deployment and is already en route to my house in the states, so for now the online poker has been put on hold. However, there was a guy in my company that plays at a place just down the road every Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. Seems to be a pretty cool place, lots of nice people, though they DO allow smoking. Also, LOTS of people very willing to give their money away for fun. It gets pretty ridiculous sometimes, but I'm having fun.
The stakes are $1/$2 and in general people start with a $40 buy-in (which is pretty low for those stakes) but after they lose their original buy-in, they generally buy back for around $80, and if they lose that, they'll buy in for like $200! It's a pretty uncommon night (apparently) for the table to hold LESS than $3,000 on it at any given time.
Anyways, I did alright tonight, and hopefully from now on I'll be able to post my win/losses at this game. I brought $160 tonight, which is actually a little less than would be ideal, but for this game was enough for my purposes. I bought in with $40, and lost it pretty quick when my KK ran into 6-4 offsuit that hit a runner runner straight. Nice way to lose $40, cuz it means that people really don't know what they're doing... trust me, it's annoying in the short term, great for the pocketbooks in the longterm.
I then re-bought for $60 and played for a while, having my AA cracked twice in the 4 hours I was there, and JJ losing quite a bit. Winning hands included 3-4d hitting two pair, AJ hitting a Jack for middle pair, 44 catching trips, and 93o (o stands for 'offsuit) when everyone was acting incredibly weak preflop. Here are the stats for tonight:
Starting bankroll: $160
End of the night bankroll: $217
Plus or Minus for the night: +$57
Why such a small sum you ask? I WAS +$300 or more for the night, but one of my final hands was AA vs. someone's all-in of 44, he caught a 4 on the flop for trips, ending my night just barely up and sort of a big disappointment for me. It really seems like a free money game over here, I'm anxious to go again! I need to start working up a good bankroll of actual cash, and this game will be a good way to start it.
I gotta get outta here folks, please behave yourselves. Love you all,

hm.
Well, mixed results for the night, its a good thing that a lot of people play so horribly, though tonight it really really paid off for them! Plenty of bad beats tonight, with only one hand that saved me from being down quite a bit. I played most the night with 2 tables of Absolute Poker and 3 tables of Full Tilt (thats right, I did 5, though I'd prefer less for this small screen).
Here are the stats, I'm happy enough with them, though I feel like they could be a lot better...
Absolute Poker Starting Balance: $158.68
Absolute Poker Ending Balance: $115.64
Absolute Points: don't really do anything for me anyways, so it doesn't matter haha
Full Tilt Starting Balance: $495.25
Full Tilt Ending Balance: $603.30
Full Tilt Points: 5690.25
Plus or Minus for the night: +$65.01
Plus or Minus for August: +$183.14
haha woo hoo, I'm rich! Making SO much money, its amazing me. Or not. Still, a plus is better than a minus, and for sure I'm learning the game better. I just got my new NLHE book in, seems pretty good, I can't wait to read the whole thing. It deals with cash games, which is what I've been playing so... yes. Good deal for me, haha.
Also, as far as the total money earned, the number would likely be a bit higher if I was able to play every day for about 2 or 3 sessions. As it is, I'm lucky to get one session in every 3 or 4 days. Keep that in mind before you decide that I'm just wasting my time :P
Wow, I need to get some sleep, early morning tomorrow :(

Another night
Well, I played at two sites tonight: Absolute Poker and FullTilt. I started the night off at FullTilt, but the connection I had with it left much to be desired, as they kept folding me on my blinds and I'd have to pay more money for less hands seen, it really starts to add up, and its very annoying besides. SO I ran off to Absolute Poker and since my bankroll there isn't as large (yet!) as the one at Full Tilt, I started playing 4 tables of $0.25/$0.50.
After a while of that, I got a bit bored of the low level and I knew I was going to start doing things out of boredom, so I checked to see if Full Tilt worked better, and played one table of Absolute Poker and 3 tables of FullTilt (all 4 at $0.50/$1 No Limit). Here are the stats for the night on FullTilt:
Statistics for 722 Hands
Street Saw Saw/Total
Flop 168 23%
Turn 90 12%
River 56 8%
Showdown 38 5%
Street Won Won/Saw Won/Total

Full Tilt Points: 5418.05
Absolute Poker Account at start: $108.08
Absolute Poker Account at end: $158.68
Plus or minus for the night: +$74.85
Not a horrible night, really, a bit frustrating maybe, but I think I'm getting better, and as long as I can keep getting better and AT LEAST maintain my bankroll, I think I'll be alright. I need to get some sleep, I'm pretty tired, and tomorrow is my last chance to sleep in for a while! lol.. laters.

Two sessions
Well, somewhere in between this post and the last post, I was able to play about 100 hands, and lost pretty miserably, mostly due to one horrible beat, but due partly to some pretty shoddy bluffs I attempted. I lost about $80, and quit before I went on tilt.
That was also the day I decided to move up a level. Instead of playing at $0.25/$.50 blinds, I moved up to $0.50/$1 blinds. For those of you that don't know what that means, the price to 'stay in' at the table went from $0.75 to $1.50 every circuit of the table. It also means that everyone has about double the chipstack, and that the level of play is generally a lot better.
I've also noticed that people play quite a bit more aggressive than in the last level, and that there are far less people willing to throw me all their money. My money wins are all hard-won, and if I'm not careful all the time, I can bleed chips out REALLY fast. That being said, here are the stats for this session:
I played FullTilt, 4 tables, at $0.50/$1
Statistics for 427 Hands
Street Saw Saw/Total
Flop 107 25%
Turn 50 12%
River 35 8%

Pre-flop 6 1% 1%
Flop 18 17% 4%
Turn 7 14% 2%
River 7 20% 2%
Showdown 8 38% 2%
Money in account at start: $428
Money in account at end: $471
Full Tilt Points: 5014.95
Music Listened to during session: Rancid: Indestructable and Rancid: Lets Go
Overall, I think I played break-even poker and got lucky a little bit at the end, I hope I can start playing well enough to beat this level, I REALLY want to get into the $1/$2 game as fast as I can, but I know I need to learn a LOT more first. I ordered a no limit cash game book last night, hopefully that'll help plug a few of the gaping holes I have. I just need more playing time, practice helps quite a bit.
Well, thats about what I have to say, you guys behave yourselves, I have a mission in a few hours, goodnight.
